Reed Rankin, Station 61 Fire Chief, said he lost everything as the wind-whipped Bear Fire leveled the town of Berry Creek. Without his pump and well business, fire station or a personal vehicle, Rankin intends to pick up and start over.

“I’m not leaving my community, I’m gonna stay with my community,” Rankin told the Chico Enterprise-Record.
